Looks like a powder day, and we ( myself and my girlfriends brother) decided to hit the local area, Powderhorn, rather than drive 2 hours each way (more like 3 based on snowy road cond's) to Vail or Beaver Creek. This turned out to be the right call, as it was one of those storms that favored the western part of the state.
Early am snow report claimed 7" new, and there was 12" by the time we skied under the bullwheel at 9 am. It snowed hard all morning, dropping another few inches, then the weather devolved into a mix of snow, fog, sun, and clouds, any two or three of those at once.
With several inches of snow during the week laying unskied in the trees, the result was a fantastic powder day.
Powderhorn has two chairs climbing about 1750 feet, each a long slow 15-minute ride. Numerous aspen glades made for great powder shots all day long, due to very light crowds and lots of fill-in flakes. My Clif bar wore out about 1:00 so we headed to the lodge for a quick brew and warm-up. I'll attach the trail map, since I don't have any other photos.
