Book your trips to Utah, Whistler or California. Because Colorado sucks. Just look at this crap:

There?s sh%t like that all over the place here. It?s horrible. Parkview Mountain (above), is somewhere near this,

but we make due, and oh yeah, I?ve gotta write this down: Nine days, no lifts, and nothing but ?that fluffy white stuff? to ski in.

We?ve come to the point in November that it?s not early season anymore. It?s just ski season.

That?s Dave, sometime soon before erupting into this:

He twisted my arm and convinced me that this would be worth blowing off responsibilities for a day. ?Stop procrastinating tomorrow?, he said. ?Do this today instead.?

As promised, the weather was tropical,

and we didn?t see a sign of another soul for miles. After the first lap, he said ?You don?t need to go home yet, you need to stay here.? I fought him every step of the way, ?but, but, but? awww hell, one more lap.?

And then another.

I dunno why I stayed for three runs. 2,400 vertical ffffffeet. Of powder? Phphphphphttt, hardly worth the effort. It must have been the mouth-watering opportunity to remember my roots, to ski trees just as tight, if not in height, as in the place I learned to chew bark. And like riding a speeder bike, there are some things you just never forget.

Sarcasm aside, this was an absolute gem of a day. Something extra-special that tomorrow, I?ll be thankful for. Enjoy your turkey, I?m going skiing.

Ahhhhh, yeah...Huh Huh...looks pretty crappy  . Lifts can be overrated; I've skied 2 days on ice chips. Enjoy T-day.

Like the rest of FTO readers, I have enjoyed mapadu's backcountry reports and pics. But for us lesser mortals who spend most of our time on lift service, Colorado is not yet ready for prime time. Lift service terrain is generally only 15% open on average, and that means congested intermediate runs on mostly manmade snow. Season snowfall is in the 50-60 inch range at most Colorado areas. By contrast, Alta's season snow is now 183 inches. I'm sure Marc is monitoring the latter accumulation closely.
