after the mid-week storm, ragged got nailed. i was over due for my first visit to ragged, so the choice was made.

ragged was advertizing 50/50 trails, fully open. this wasn't quite true. i found ropes accoss 3 trails roped (there's a no-bull for ya!).

despite the big storm having happened days ago, untracked pow was still to be found in select out of the way places early in the day. however, the rule for the day was soft packed powder, with lots of loose snow on top. i haven't skied conditions this good in almost 2 years!

nothing is extremely steep at ragged, but their trails are very fun. big rock basin offered up several trails with very short, steep pitches that had lots of rocks showing... but still open. other expert trails include birches and sweepstakes... the former being an awesome bump run with soft pow. not much pitch though. the later being what will eventually be a nice bump right, but right now is just a bunch of pushed around pow, not too fun... especially in the flat parts.

glades seemed kinda sketchy. hit LOTS of rocks and twigs sticking up in the spacious stinky's slide.

the most excellent snow was to be found off the northeast peak chair on squares and greens. yes, greens! village green had awesome snow, and was probably one of the only greens i've had fun on in a long long long time. kept tracking down the side of the trail and under the lift.

exhibition under the lift was half groomed half bumped. offered up excellent square level bumps. my pick of the day was birches, a diamond off the 6 pack with natural snow and bumps. excellent.

lines were managable and small, 5 minute wait tops on the 6 pack... despite what seemed like a big crowd. walk on lines on other chairs. nice lodge too! lots of room on the slopes too. ragged disperses it's crowd well.

ragged could really use one more dump to fill in the scratchy parts in the glades and the diamonds off big rock basin. however, it's all skiable at this point. i've NEVER skied such good conditions in december. although ragged was not particularly challenging or steep, it was a ton of fun.
