Red Lodge ski area under fire

Other than your feature (nice piece), it's tough to find people saying anything about Red Lodge. I've seen it mentioned a couple times on TGR, with people usually making comments about how little snow it gets. Looks interesting though.

Credit goes to Mike Bernstein. I only took the photos. We were on a whirlwind 1200-mile road tour throughout western Montana and Wyoming. We split up the writing duties, and he took Red Lodge.
 
It's gone from bad to worse -- the fire is now nearly 9,500 acres and within 1/2 to 1/4 mile of the ski area.
 
never been, but hopefully they have enough snowmaking firepower that they can use within the ski area boundaries itself? Either that or there will be a whole lot of 'open bowl', hike to, skiing far too soon :(
