Monday afternoon we drove from our friends’ place east of Albuquerque to Flagstaff. Liz researched an excellent dining option for dinner, the Turquoise Room at La Posada hotel in Winslow. La Posada was one of the Fred Harvey hotels serving Southwest rail travelers a century ago. Winslow now embraces its more recent claim to fame.

I drove through Winslow during the summer of 1972. Take It Easy was released in May 1972.

We drove down Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona before breakfast.

We got on the trail to Devil’s Bridge a little after 11AM with nice views along the way.

There was some rock scrambling.

I had been here once before, with Samantha in 2006.

The approach trail was about 2 miles.

Fortunately some of it was shaded as it was 88F midday.

Liz had a fascia massage while I charged the car. Before that we drove up to Airport Mesa for views over Sedona. Southeast:

Our hike was on the other side of those rocks.

Leaving town around 5PM there was smoke from a fire to the northwest.

We spent the night with friends Pete and Erma in Buckeye, then drove home Wednesday.

Liz is ski ready. She uses a stationary bike at the gym but is not road bike ready due to the bending range of motion required.
