Sherburne Ski Trail

Got to the trailhead about 8:15 this morning with very light snow falling.Temps were in the low 20's with winds in the parking lot 10-20mph.There werent many lovebirds out as the lot only had 20 or so vehicles in it.
The Tucks trail is in fine shape with all waterbars filled in and packed powder from edge to edge.I would say the woods have 3 1/2-4' in there.
Considerable avy danger and rising as it was snowing and blowing pretty good at Hermit Lake.I couldnt even see Lower Snowfields or Little Headwall. It's days like that which make me think about the thousands of people who have gotten to Hermit Lake in similar conditions and never even got to see the wonders that surround them.Suc%s for them.
The top of the Sherby was beautiful light POW and soft windpacked.I brought the Swiss-bob sled as I was with a non skier. The sled run was phenomenal! The soft new snow was perfect for high speed steering!Faceshots all the way to the parking lot!I only stopped three times on the way down and that was only because I was so far ahead of my friend.I easily could have gone from Ho-Jo's to Pinkham in 5-7 minutes if I was going solo!It took us about 10 today. The ski trail has really good cover now.The waterbars are 95%filled in and there are some moguls starting to form, especially lower. There is one stretch that continues to be icy and that's by the cache.Beware as the trail has a slight double falline and the ice will send you into the rocks on skier's left.I dont really see this getting much better this season after seein how thick and clear the ice was over the last few weeks.I think the new snow will just get blown clear and could be deciving if it isnt.Extreme skiers left was the best line with speed in check.Besides that 40 yard stretch the trail is sweet!I'm going somewhere tomorrow.Maybey the 'Burne,G.O.S,T-Brook or 2xhead.I want to swing into Jackson X-C and talk to someone whos been down the Wildcat Valley Trail as that's high on the list too.Life's short ski hard!
((*
*))NHPH

Thanks for the report NHPH !

We begin to plan a Zoneski day at Tucks in early april, so it's good to have some updates like that.

I hope that there will be a huge amount of snow in the rest of february and in march, so we will have the chance to ski all the way to Pinkham !

Lol thanks Marc, this is exactly what I would have written.

This translation system is incredible. It's right on something like 90%... way enough to understand a conversation !

I'm currently taking French in school, and was pleased to find that, although I can't understand nearly every word or sentence, I can pick out the meaning of it pretty well. I think I'm going to lurk around the site to keep up with skiing & build my French skills at the same time. Maybe some time in the future I'll actually post!

Hi Ben !

Glad that you learn some french in school ! It's very good to know 2 languages !!

About the site, we already have few people from USA and El-Bagr that you know via TFT is member of the website. (Jamesdeluxe too, but he looks 100% bilingual). It doesn't matter if you post some messages with some words in english (or simply in english). I can't promise that all the people will read them and answer you in english, but I'm sure a bunch of us talk some "decent" english.

(there is even a couple of persons that come here when I write some day summaries with hidden facts on Zoneski, cause they know that I say more things on FTO...) as we have to follow the skier's code on Zoneski (officially)

frank I was thinking about posting on Zoneski but did not know if I was allowed to post in english. I have been reading the posts using the translator.

porter

I really don't think that there would be a problem if you were writing in english on the website.

A suggestion that I could give to you is to write your post in english and use the translator to make it in french. Post both ones (in the same post) with a copy/paste. By this way, if there is some points that are badly translated, people will refer to the english version (below) and chances are that they perfectly understand what you mean.

Actually, I learned most of my english by internet... may be it will be the same thing for you and ben about french

Frank from my background in Spanish I can generally understand Zoneski without the translator, however I can not write in french. Hopefully I will learn how to write in french in the coming months.

porter

Good !

I'm eager to see you on the website !

But don't forget FTO of course lolol
