SkiBowl Backcountry Question

Uff da!

Is anyone here familiar with the backcountry @SkiBowl?

Specifically, the Tom, Dick & Harry Peaks area? I'm heading there in the morning because I've grown tired of the blatant mismanagement of Mt. Hood Meadows this year. 45 minute lift lines and all the freshies being tracked out in the first 15 minutes is getting ridiculous. I plan on buying a fusion pass next season and ditching meadows all together. I've heard that this is the place to get your fix of the "steep & deep" on Hood, if you don't like Meadows.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

The problem is SkiBowl is just lower in elevation than Timberline/Meadows.

I'd rather ski powder at Meadows for a shorter time period - than mang at SkiBowl.

Believe me, I am well aware of that. I've spent 30+ days per season over the past 15 years on Mt. Hood. I've been to skibowl 50 times during that period. There is no denying that the snow at T Line and meadows is superior. The fusion pass allows you to ski at either T Line or SkiBowl, since they are owned by the same company.

Timberline is relatively flat

Meadows NEVER opens Upper Heather Canyon anymore and SEVERELY restricts backcountry access

Skibowl has very steep terrain(albeit not much vertical), an open backcountry policy and poor quality snow.

If you have been to Mt. Hood Meadows this season you would understand why many of us longtime passholders will be skiing elsewhere next season. (P.S. there is a reason Mt. Hood Meadows has had MULTIPLE skier deaths in each of the past few seasons, and it has nothing to do with the terrain)

Actually up here on Mt Hood the snow has been really good! Sorry I can't help you much on getting around Tom, Dick, and Harry mountain, but I do know from where I'm sitting, the snow's been pretty low in the past week.

This next few days is going to be pretty clear - as the past two days have been. I'm more familiar with my own "back-yard country" than SkiBowl's back-country.
