Skier's Edge...to sell or not to sell

I have a Skier's Edge, that, like most of my indoor exercise equipment, is collecting dust. It works well for a towel rack, since it lives near our hot tub during the ski season.

I typically use it about 10 times prior to ski season to get my legs used to the motion. I don't think I really need it. I find indoor exercise quite boring and I can hardly get my heart rate up on it for long enough. I'm thinking about selling it.

It is in good condition. Not really sure how much it is worth. I was thinking that $300 would be worthwhile for me to make some room in my living space and that amount of money would pay for a gym membership.

I have a large trampoline in my yard which delivers a much more rigorous aerobic work-out as well as tones those ski muscles. I can simulate the ski motion of both alpine and telemark on it. I think it is a much better work-out and something I can do outdoors until the snow flies.

I'm not sure I want to sell the Skier's Edge just yet. I may want to use it for the next 2 months and will decide if it is worth keeping or not.

Just thought I'd throw this out to the forum and see what you all think of this contraption and pre-season ski workouts.

I didn't know what Skiers Edge was....went to the site. Makes sense.

Funny how on the demo video they've got a guy indoors on the thing in some beautiful western ski location in midwinter. Get out there dude!

I'm with you Sharon - I can't hardly get motivated to exercise indoors. I used to have a nordic trac... most I ever used it was to break in new boots for a hut to hut trip. Hated that thing.

When Daylight Savings Time ends, no more after work MTB, so it's either the stationary bike, or getting up way early (no way!). I don't like those options.

I'm interested in your skiers edge, if you are considering selling it. If so, what model is it , how old, any "extras", and how much? thanks. ps. you'll have better luck selling it before ski season than in the middle or end. thanks

I got on my Skier's Edge yesterday and decided to keep it. I plan to use it after my post-work dog-walks/trail runs. The woods are already choked with leaves and are quite slippery. I plan to ride today, but it is getting sketchy in there and riding time is limited. I started trail running yesterday and I gotta say...my body doesn't like it that much. So much impact on my legs. Aerobically, it isn't enough for me because I am so careful on my footing on the rooty/rocky/leafy trails, so I'm not going that fast. The hills are the only thing that get my heart rate up. I'm so sad about the end of mtb season. When the time changes in 2 weeks, that will be the end for sure...at least on weekdays. We are entering the dark times. During the dark time, I will trail run with a headlamp, use my Skier's Edge and also do my trampoline workouts. I think the trampoline is one of the best trainers for the ski muscles and is also a great aerobic workout.

Windsurf season is just about over. Tomorrow we may get some wind, however, it seems that the lake water will be in the high 50s and the air temp will be in the low 50s...that is bordering on "too cold to windsurf". But I may just go for it, then drive home with my wetsuit on and go right in the hot tub...it's the only way. Taking off the wetsuit when it is windy and cold is just brutal.

It is time to transition while waiting for the snow to fall. I hope it isn't too long. If all goes well, may make the annual Veteran's weekend pilgrimage to the white ribbon of death...wherever it may be. Usually Killington, maybe Sugarbush this year. We'll see where they blow.

Sharon wouldn't have to cramp her workout style out here...

and I have a 1,700 vertical hill climb half a block away. It's south facing, so the main problem is when it's too hot. Samantha is 12+ years old and quite heat sensitive, so I need a cool day to take her very far up there.

Lots of mountain bikers on those fire roads in the Verdugo Mountains and Griffith Park too. There is no such thing as a "shoulder season" or "dark times" here. Winter and summer sport seasons overlap. Some of that is moderate west coast weather, but in places like Bend and SLC the altitude range is enough for high altitude winter and low altitude summer sports to coexist.

sweet dog!!

While we do have "the dark times" here in the northeast, we do get this wonderful change of seasons, which also has it's benefits.

For us here, the worst part of "the dark times" is hunting season...when the woods are pretty much off-limits to me and the dogs...even right out my back door
