Skiing the Stansburys

Hey all! I have been eyeing the Stansburys for years and am now looking for insights on safe routes up and good lines down. I am not into narrow chutes, but prefer more open lines between 35 and 40 degrees. As I understand it, the approach in winter is quite long from the gate? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan

Welcome to FTO Liftlines, Dan! I'm guessing gwest may have done some touring out there, so hopefully he or someone else has the knowledge you need.

I've eyed those mountains for a long time, too, and even did some winter hiking out there last December northeast of Deseret Peak before the meager snowpack was skiable. There's a ton of terrain even at the 8000-foot level that's wide open and sparsely studded with cedars and junipers.

Stores around the Valley, including REI have a Stansbury Mountains touring map with an aerial photo with common ski touring routes marked on the reverse side. I have a copy at home if you need some info from it.
