Is anyone familar with the Super 8 in Midvale?

Here's the location:
Google Maps

Are there enough places to eat, etc in that area?

In the past I've stayed downtown (The Red Lion) and I'm not familar with much else.

Thanks.

I haven't stayed there, of course, but that's suburbia ground zero for dining and shopping -- a friend of mine has an apartment about a block from there and there's just about everything you could ever want to eat -- Tony Roma's (ribs), Famous Dave's (BBQ), Tsunami (high-end sushi), a brewpub, fast food, The Pie (good pizza), and the usual selection of strip malls and big box stores (Wal-Mart, Super Target, etc.).

We were very happy with the Homewood Suites in Sandy last winter. Suspect it costs a bit more than the Super 8, but it includes a nice breakfast and even Mon- Thurs. a light dinner (nice salad and a main course like pasta or chicken --even includes a bad but drinkable wine). Also has a nicely heated indoor pool and hot tub. It's on the road into Big Cottonwood Canyon, and a block from the ski bus. Lots of restaurants and small shopping centers in the neighborhood-- a few even within walking distance -- and if you have a car, you have a choice of 2 ski shops on the road to the Cottonwood canyons where you can stop for your discount lift tix.

Thanks for the input guys.

I looked at Homewood Suites, but they didn't have anything with two beds for the time window I'm looking at.

For what it's worth, the Super 8 has continental breakfast and hot tub too.

If anyone is interested, the Red Lion in downtown has a pretty good "ski and stay" promo price that includes lift tickets for the big and little cottonwood canyon resorts:

I have friends who have stayed at the Super 8. We generally stay at the National 9 across the street. They will give you a weekly rate if you call them directly and ask. (The Super 8 downtown will also give a weekly rate but I don't believe that the Midvale one will.) The motels at this location are conveniently near the depot for catching the Cottonwood Canyon buses. This is handy if you don't have a 4WD car and it's snowing in the canyon.

The National 9 also has a hot tub and offers a free breakfast.

As said by others, the 7200 area has a lots of restaurants, groceries, and other shopping along it.
