I arrived at Smuggs Lot #1 at 7:50 and much to my surprise it was raining. M1 was closed. Freezing rain and fog surrounded the top of Sterling. Wind was about 15 mph but with the temp around 30, wind chill was no problem. Freezing Rain was a problem. My goggles iced up instantly and I had to use my finger as a windshield wiper while I skied! My first run was almost blind and I felt like I was going a million miles an hour on the little skis. The snow was also very fast!

I took about 6 runs on Sterling and than went over to M2. I think they must have been running M2 at about half speed. Could it have been due to the wind which only swept the last few hundred feet of the lift line? Also, the half pipe was being groomed so I couldn't ski that. I skied down that terrain park thing which was very hard packed in some places. I had contemplated doing the hike up to FIS but I was already running short on time so I skipped it.

Despite the freezing rain, fresh snow was fine. By my last run, about 10:30, goggle freeze up was very slight. The snow was also starting to
accumulate.
