Pretty quiet in town this morning. I wonder why?? It's pretty quiet up on the hill too. I saw a guy skiing the headwall on Madonna Liftline this morning and he didn't make a sound. The white swirls he left behind were not anything short of pornographic. He was submerged in white from mid thigh-down and occasionally he was totally invisible. I don't know who he was, but it's safe to call him Whitebeard.

Nothing feels like powder feels when you don't touch bottom. It's like suddenly weighing about 10 pounds. In what is nearly a foot so far, the isn't a whole lot of anything but floating going on. Sure, there is some touching down, but not at the right speed in the right places. The best place I found was one of last year's new cuts. From top to bottom, Snakebite had seen less traffic than anything else I was on, with puffy white clouds flowing up my thighs. Steep and wide, it was effortless. That was the best I've felt so far this year, granted it was the best conditions I've seen so far as well.

Everything was good though. Most trails are mashed up with loose powder, but it's light enough where big, swooping turns through all the poof-pockets are smooth and easy. Wheeeeee!!!
