2/28

Even after the first fluffy powder in some time, we got a late 11am start.
With only Sterling (M2 doesn't much count) open, it was pretty tracked up.
Underneath all that powder is still an icy rock hard surface. I guess thats
why Smuggs has been grooming so much and so hard recently... Our first run
was down Pipe Line where we expected to find ungroomed semi powder bumps,
but found groomed hard pack. That trail is a bit to steep and narrow to be
fun when groomed and icy. The next few trails we tried to find full powder
coverage, but didn't have much luck on the likes of bootlegger and black
bear. The on map woods were pretty tracked up as well, but were in much
better shape. The saving grace of the day was first (and second) tracks in
woods off the practice slope, kindly recommended by Mr Duffy. My girlfriend
is now a convert in that the woods is the place to be (me too)

3/01

No new snow, but another powder day due to M1 being on wind hold all day
yesterday. Got an early start today and found multiple untrack lines on our
first 2 runs in Red Fox and Three Mtn glades. Next we hit FIS and Doc
Dempsey's multiple times. The left side of FIS had some nice powder moguls,
and the bottom of docs was very nice as well (Top half was all skied off)
Very bottom of FIS was pure ice, which pushed us into the woods, finding
some (previously unknown to us) open trees to the left. Capped of the day
with the Sterling Practice Slope woods back to the car. Was going to go back
this afternoon, but hit the hot tub and pool instead. This weekend is not
looking nice
