Snowbasin 3/2/2012, pictures added

Once I saw that Snowbasin had finally gotten a decent dump from the last leg of this week's storm (13" overnight for a 72 hour total of 19"), I decided to go there. I didn't get as early a start as I should have (the friends I'm staying with live less than 15 miles away, but it took awhile to get there due to some snow on the road and a slowdown in the last mile or so). I started skiing at 10:00 AM and finished after 4:00 PM. I had a great day, despite having no real-time local guidance (although Evren did give me some useful advice in a post on the forum last night). I hit a reasonable amount of powder, especially in the trees. Elsewhere it was mostly cut up, but still skied well.

Edit: With Admin's help plus several backflips and jumping through hoops, I was able to get the pictures resized and uploaded in the proper order.

Any meeting place/time? I may go to PowMow- the alternative for me is the Snowbird zoo.

We're shooting for 8:45AM arrival at PowMow.

Everything but Bookends got open at Snowbird today, we found out at dinner tonight. Lots of terrain remained closed at Alta: Ballroom/Baldy Shoulder, Backside, Catherine's, Westward Ho.

No way tiger tail got opened...FYI ballroom and the shoulder as well as backside have some SERIOUS steepness above them that needs to be controlled. I dont know what window of clear vis patrol wouldve had to do control work in either of these areas.
Another note.. Keyhole and westward ho did in fact BOTH open at alta on Friday. Sorry if YOU missed it but they dd get opened.

BTW, those electronic signs at Alta aren't always accurate.

Can someone walk me through the steps to reducing file size to under 200kb without making the photos look bad? What software, etc.?

Faststone Image Viewer, ironically not the Resizer. You get the added benefit of having one of the best image viewers out there for Windows.

Thanks. I got it done, finally.

Baldyskier, those pictures look pretty good to my undiscerning eyes. Also glad to see you ventured out to Strawberry. While some of its more interesting lines are not easy to scout on first try, what's in plain sight is so open and wide that it probably did not get tracked out too quickly.
