SNOWBIRD BC/EASY ACCESS BABY 4/28

so we got some sun and lots of wind. high north=good dry pow. high north=wind damage. the key today was to go high enough north, but with some wind protection. no easy task, but with a 7:30 early tram to the top of the bird, we at least had an easy out if things were less than desirable. ride up with snow safety/patrol, let them know of our plans and off we go to flip the sign and fix bamboo on the bonars gate. it was frickin blowin like a bastid, but i liked what i was seeing. craig and i then broke trail over towards the temptation chutes and found what looked like good skiing, and we were right. just high enough north facing with wind protection. skinned up a bit then booted up to the ridge. deep untracked pow for 3 laps each in there. nice steep pitch and no tracks anywhere. decided that we had a nice morning of pow skiing and that the groomers for the exit would be hero corn. the groomers were hero corn. done by 12:30pm.

tomorrow? early skin for corn across the street with a finish at the bird riding lifts to end a very nice ski vacation.

no set plan yet. my touring partner is a little less than excited to tour with folks he doesn't know. it's just the way he is. i'd be into it. maybe meet at the bird? i'm starting to plan a longer trip for these parts for next year, like maybe come for the whole month of april. shouldn't be too tough to pull off. if i come for extended period (wow, i just sounded like patrick), i'll be on my own program. april in the wasatch has really revived my love for the place. conditions can be hit or miss or in between, but the lack of crowds and warm weather is freaking me out. anywho, we should be at the bird by 11ish. atomic rt 86 w/fritchis. blue shell/black pants and no helmet. should be nice. hand shakes are fine, hugs better :mrgreen:
