A word of advice for anyone going to Snowbird tomorrow, absolutely stay away from BASSHIGHWAY on your way back to the Tram. I absolutely destroyed my pair of K2 Apache Outlaws, so bad so that I couldn?t even point them on my way home. I wrecked them so bad that I had to give them a full tune over at the cliffs lodge in order to get back on the mountain. Basshighway had about an inch of snow covering an absolute rock garden. No exaggeration the connection was about 95% rock 5% snow, so stay away. If you need to go that way, stay far left almost on the edge of that little cliff, personally I would suggest you take your skis off unless we get a whole lot more snow tonight which I don't see happening.
That being said the rest of the day at Snowbird really wasn?t that nice. When I arrived a little after 10 am there was maybe 3 ? 4 inches of not even ?dust on crust? , more like wet snow on a glacier. Visibility was poor at best all day and I can only imagine it got worse once the snow came back in after 1 pm. I had called it quits by then seeing that my skis were wrecked. I found the best snow just above the base of the little cloud lift.
I guess what more can you expect when the day before temps were in the mid 70?s at 7000 feet in Park City. You would have thought I?d know better but I guess not. Hopefully we can get another 10 inches or so over the next day or two but we shall see, considering they were forecasting 10-15 for today and they are lucky if we saw five so far.
I?ll be back at the Bird tomorrow and I?ll be sure to let everyone know what if anything they missed.
