So the Bird was able to redeem themselves after the piss poor day I experienced yesterday. Today there was maybe another inch or two of new snow on top of the 4-5 inches they got yesterday. Considering the weather and the light were the same both days you would have assumed the mountain would have skied the same as the day prior but let me tell you it sure didn?t. Today?s snow skied exceptionally well, this kind of reminded me of the stretch of days when Alta reopened on that Friday which stunk and Saturday ended up being the nicest day of the two. If you see my post from yesterday you?ll notice I described the snow as being ?wet snow on a glacier?. Well today?s glacier thawed out a bit and the new snow was adhering to the surface quite well, so well that I would describe the conditions as being smooth and creamy.
I didn?t ski much today just because I?m still feeling the effects from my week long vacation in Vegas but if today were the last day of the year I?m happy that at least I finished the season on a strong note. That being said I?m still planning on heading over tomorrow but one never knows what Friday night will do to your Saturday morning.
I?d say my two best runs of the day were off the High Baldy traverse out into Peruvian and Silver Fox.
No action pictures today since I was skiing solo.
Also note that as I left the Bird at 2 pm the snow was really coming down and according to the snowcam they picked up another 4 or so inches. According to the NWS we could be seeing another 10 inches or so through tomorrow. We shall see.
