Snowbird today held a press conference as they punched through their new ski tunnel connecting Peruvian Gulch and Mineral Basin:

The new tunnel is a first in the North American ski industry. As the story explains, a moving carpet will traverse the 600 foot tunnel through the mountain 300 vertical feet below Gorilla Pass.

I was up there with Marc_C. We took a boatload of photos, so I wanted to use the forums to share more of those with you.

Can't wait to try it. What exactly was the motivation for undertaking this project? Was it to provide easier access to Mineral Basin for less able skiers?

Thanks for the link. I suspected the "Chips Run" issue was a part of it, but I totally forgot about the WIND! I have literally been blown uphill and/over at times at the crest. It should be fun and I'm looking forward to using it.
