Day 59: Cruisin' in the sun
Today was a day to spend skiing with Mrs. Admin. I wanted as pleasant experience for her as possible, and when I awoke it was a nippy 19 degrees at the base of Snowbird, so we sat at home until 11 am when mid-Gad rose 14 degrees in an hour -- a sure sign that things were softening.
Our timing was perfect. It was still a bit crusty and stiff at the base at 11:45, but softening beautifully in Mineral. Mrs. Admin, The Kid and I spent a few runs back there until the front side began to soften, and took a run into Gad Valley via Mark Malou Fork before a few laps on Peruvian, descending Chip's to Blackjack and Whodunit to a late lunch, by which time Whodunit was turning to semi-sticky glue.
Lunch on the Tram Plaza, in the sun with Bobby Danger, Marc_C, Skidog, Tele Jon and a couple of randoms from NYC, of course, was a blast. Refueled by pulled pork, a beer and a latté, it was time to head back out.
The whole group took a couple of laps on Peruvian before the high-test crowd headed for the Tram, and Marc_C, Mrs. Admin and I took a few more runs on Peruvian before wrapping the day with beers in the parking lot. Life's good.
Next weekend will be a weekend off from skiing as I wean myself off of skiing and into summer recreation with a desert backpacking trip. Ski season will resume the weekend thereafter.
