Day 88: Livin' the Dream.
I'm finally getting around to posting this, sorry for the delay but I've been swamped this week getting the main part of FTO back up and running better than ever.
I'll mostly let the pictures do the talking. The highlight for me at least last Saturday was getting back onto the summit of Mount Baldy for the first time this year, for a shot at Living The Dream. It was unusual, however, in that they weren't letting us up the normal hiking route up the Peruvian ridgeline because there were chunks of cornice breaking off the size of small school buses. So instead we had to ski all the way out the High Baldy traverse to the Alta ropeline, just above the Armpit gate, and you'd start boot packing straight up Baldy Shoulder from there.
Living the Dream was, in a word, spectacular. We timed the corn cycle just right, shaving off a couple of inches of surface corn atop a supportable base. Dreamy.
I never made it up last Sunday despite the best of intentions. I overslept, then started attacking the FTO project for a bit and before I knew it, the clock said 11 a.m. Just not worth it at that point. Pictures from today will follow later on, I need to run out for errands now.
