Another day in paradise.
I would've made it on time for my 10:30 meeting with Marc_C at the base of Gadzoom, but I forgot my helmet and gloves at home. #-o As it was, he got a run in while I went back home and we were on the lift together by 11.
Snow cover remains excellent. We saw a few brown patches starting to appear down low -- three of them, to be exact. None of them any big deal. We'll still be skiing for quite a while.
Our whole day was spent yo-yo'ing Little Cloud. It got up to 89 in the Salt Lake Valley yesterday, and today it was about 9 or 10 degrees cooler behind a dry "cold" front. I'm guessing that it was around 60 today on the hill, without a cloud in the sky. Last night's cooler weather did provide a freeze-thaw cycle, which delivered the first honest-to-goodness corn day I've had this season because it finally stopped snowing. The sticky glue of the past several weekends barely showed itself today.
Our last run was down Great Scott, once again the run of the day just past 1 pm. We barely made it, though, for as we were traversing over to the upper Cirque Traverse gate a patroller was closing the gate for the day while we were still 50 yards away. We shouted out to her, and she graciously let us in before turning back others behind us. The heavy wet snow was sliding everywhere under the hot sun as the photos below show.
9,531 verts for me in 2.5 hours.
