what a difference from yesterday to today. nice cold gliding snow was waiting for yesterdays group to ascend collins gulch , and today was a sweat fest and not much cold gliding snow left , big big difference in the base area of collins gulch verses peruvian gulch in what remains of yesterdays storm . but still even with what's left at the lower end of peruvian gulch as far as man made snow the snow that did fall stuck around on that pretty nicely. . lower chips face was nice but damp (wet) powder was a bit shallower there so you were actually skiing the corn underneath a bit . today heavy clumping was the main theme of the hike , it started about a thousand vertical up the hill , luckily skidog had some skin wax , that helped for a bit but it was mainly up to the skinner how far one was going today. completely different climbing conditions today !
you could probably count on one hand how many more days we get like this past weekend. this was a gift in a bad ski season
