From a combination of this morning's Snowbird conditions report & NWS Wasatch Mountain forecast:

Current: 29°F
Hi: 32°F
Lo: 29°F

New Snow:
24hr: 13"
48hr: 21"
(Darned work gets in the way again! )

Today's Forecast: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of snow showers. Highs at 8000 feet in the upper 30s.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, 20°F @8000 ft

Friday: Mostly sunny, 50°F @8000 ft

Friday night: Clear, 30°F @8000 ft

Sat: Mostly sunny, high 59°F @8000 ft
(Can you say, "Sunshine & corn, baby!"?) :D

Sat night & Sun: 50% chance of snow showers (keep in mind that I've often seen 6-10" of "snow showers" since moving here - Can you say, "Late April powder, baby!"?) \:D/

Sorry to disillusion you, but if the snow is fresh today and it is 59 degrees Saturday the off-trail skiing will be unconsolidated cement, not corn. Stick to the groomers or skier-packed lines as at Mammoth April 10 (or Baldy Feb. 27) vs. the powder morning April 9. Or take your chances that Sunday will be a powder day.

The consolidation process in natural terrain from fresh to corn takes at least 5-7 days by my observation. But once it's there it will persist, as at Baldy now, with continued clear (read freezing nights and warm days) weather.

Tony, you may well be right -- I'll just have to go up Saturday and Sunday to determine that.
