Where did all the Northwest weather go? It went to Utah. At least for Saturday.
Foggy, snowy, and cloudy. All covered with 2-4" of heavier snow.
Brighton - morning.
Skied the Great Western Express. This terrain has some nice open steep pitches at the top to skier's left. Also, the terrain just outside the boundary rope was nice. However, flat spots interrupt the flow all over this area. In fact, Brighton is ruined by flat spots - at least the Majestic side. Millicent side - yes, it's like a mini-Alta -- but not enough. Yes you can go out-of bounds easily. But the vertical must only be 600-800 ft before it flattens out again. Fun section, but after 6-7 runs, we were done
Overall, I think Brighton is an annoying place. Yes, it gets great snow. But consistent fall lines are rare. Very rare. I will never ski Brighton again. However, for beginners, intermediates and park-types -- it's fine and cheap!
Solitude - afternoon.
I like the terrain here a little better. However, Honeycomb Canyon is not worth 3 chairs to get back to. Also, the Powderhorn and Summit chairs are so slow. The lift system is poor. (If we could move some of those quads from Brighton over here). The one HS Quad does have some nice cruising, but does not make a mountain.
