original plans to head towards Blackmore again were tarnished. the road to Hyalite is closed due to excessive partying this time of year and to preserve the road from the frost heaves getting chewed up from driving over them. ...so the Forest Service says. open by May 15th?
me and a buddy went to check out the Spanish Peaks. off to the Flying D around 7am. saw some buffalo, wolves and some elk on the way in. we weren't sure where we were headed, but we'd figure it out once we could see what was around. well this solves it!
no trail going up, so we improvised. something like this:

drop in, 2pm. the sun just got off the right side of this line so the corn was timed perfectly. the rest of the run varied with some wet and heavy, breakable kind of crusty "powdery" snow and some more corn. NW exposure
