A little late, but I wasn't wired for this trip.

I was up to Stoneham to prepare an upcoming feature story for FTO. Not a lot was available yet to ski ... quad chair A and double chair D were open on Mountain 1, serving trails #2 and 7. Snow was being made in many other locations on the mountain, most notably the 48/40 combination. Huge wales of snow were being plowed out by the cats there, and while it seemed on Thursday afternoon that they'd be ready for Friday morning, alas they were not. I'm sure that the plan was to have them for the weekend.

Thursday was a yo-yo game on #7. Big, high-speed arcs were the order of the day on the impeccably groomed surface. Skies were clear and cold, around 17 or 18 F. The place was deserted ... no one to fight for elbowroom. In fact, many base facilities were not yet open ... the Quatre Foyers bar was closed, and staff in the St.-Edmond Pub were still busy unpacking new glassware.

Friday morning was more of the same, but the weather took a dramatic turn as the first flurries arrived with an advancing storm. Alas, I had to pack it in after a few runs and head to Montreal.
