You set your expectations pretty low, head to the mountains, and lo and behold it's better than expected. This strategy has worked for me all season.

The 4-6 inches new were spread around and tramped down to yeild some pretty good packed powder -- real, western-type packed powder -- on many trails. Highlights included Lullabye lane, Toll Road, and Gulch.

OK, they ain't steep, but they were sweet.

Agian, the top of National looked good, too, although I didn't get a chance to ski it. Mountain Ops tells me that blowing snow there is not a priority item at this time -- let's hope it stays low-priority for some time to come.

Weather was cool to cold and wintery. Blustery, some might say. The view from the Octagon was not one that would suggest any possibility of rain in the forecast.
