Summary:
Oh yeah!

Details:
The weather Thursday morning at the gondola base was quite chilly, but the skies were clear and a gorgeous day was definitely in store for us, complete with resplendent fall colors.

Based on all of your reports, plus prior years' observations from Spruce Peak slalom races of Nosedive's sun exposure (or rather, lack thereof), we hiked to the base of Midway, skinned up Midway to the sugar shack at the bottom of the Sugar Slalom course on Nosedive, and then yo-yo'ed essentially the race course. Given how little sun the skier's right of Nosedive receives, the base was still holding up well, and the snow was a bit heavy in places but still lots of fun. (Plus a sled had set down the *perfect* skin track for us.)

I was a bit envious when I saw prior tracks on lower National plus Jerm's sick line down upper Goat (where it intersects with Midway), but we were still grateful to start our season off on mid-October natural snow in New England!
