Hello from the Stowe Octagon!

Just taking a break from the umpteenth run down the Lord/North Slope combo while the weather rages pretty good outside. It's been snowing steadily since I arrived at 10:30 with no signs of slowing up. Not a lot of accum. at the base but is piling up fairly well from about halfway up the quad. The upper 1/4 of the quad is pretty much socked in and quite windy, beginning at about the small cliffs under the lift, right above Liftline.

Not buffed ice bumps yet, but getting close. The sides are still soft and fun and even the funky little bumps are fun to play in. Just watch out for the super slick patches dead center.

Not a big crowd, about half boarders or more. Only $36 for a full day, or $27 with a Stowe card. It sure beats Jester/Deathspout combo at SB, but prob. not as interesting as Big K, judging from reports.

Poaching ain't a good idea, yet. Centerline sampling proved that. Still was worth it for two or three bottomless turns in a row where it had drifted to 12" or so.

Only guns I see going are on Ridge View and at the North Slope/Lord intersection. Spruce looks quiet, though they predict it will be open by Friday.

It's winter up here. Bon ski!
