A fallen comrade asked that every 10th powder run from now until May I must repeat, "This one is for my buddy..."

Well, buddy, I skied 10 runs for you today, plus one for my Mom (last run down Toll Road) and one for my deserted-me-for-Fernie posse ( a miserable trip down the Gondola stream bed).

Some of the more heavily travelled trails were a bit slick. Light powder on a generally firm base tends to get pushed around, thus revealing the deadly substrate layers.

But for the most part, powder was the rule, not unlike that described elsewhere in this forum for BigK and Bolton, and maybe even a little better. I took advantage of older, slower lifts to reach run after run of mostly forgotten pockets of untracked, including two runs down a very neglected glade and stream bed that was begging for company. It rewarded my attention with near knee deep snow for many more turns than I could count.

Even go some sunshine, although most of the day it snowed.

Loser run of the day was down the Gondola stream bed. This has long been one of my favorites, but with so much else to do I hadn't skied it yet this year. Today was not the day: it was the most scraped off icy death chute I skied all day. Yuck.
