Kind of cold (25ish), but I was shedding my layers by midday and cursing my decision to wear thermals. BRING SUNSCREEN.

Absolutely gorgeous day alert! Mt. Washington was in plain view from atop the quad. Crystal blue skys with some rolling clouds.

North Slope was roped off for a race, which is too bad because it looked really pristine. Groomed very nicely, massive bumps on Liftline on both sides (i.e. no avoiding it) all the way down to its connection with midway, where the left side is smooth and the right side is bumpy. National was bumpy too, can you believe it? Still a big ice patch at the drop-in to Liftline, be careful. Nosedive was as good as I've ever seen it!! The chute down to Nosedive wasn't bumped over like it usually is, and the top of Nosedive was very nice and just slightly bumpy.

Over at Gondolier, the runs are nice and groomed. By the time I left (11:30) they were starting to get kind of mushy at the bottom, making it difficult to edge in really well. Chinclip was really nice if you want to practice the bumps like I did -- lots of powder around most of the bumps (!), NO traffic because of the "Thin Cover" sign at the entrance. And I did in fact clip my chin on the snow after I lost my edge on a bump, but I had my mouth closed so I didn't have a chance to bisect my tongue, which was good. Thinking of adding a chinguard to my helmet. A few barespots here and there near the top, but it's got fine coverage as you descend, despite the sign.

All in all, a very nice day and good snow conditions -- not the ice wasteland I was fearing I'd see after the thaw we've had. Starting to get a little on the mushy side near the bottom, and I'm sure the top is to follow. Moguls are firm still, they might soften up today, but not icy on the bottoms of the bumps.

The only thing else I'd like would be slightly cooler temps to keep the grooms from mushifying, and maybe 4-5 inches of fresh pow to even things out a bit. Hellooo, Friday.
