(Note from the Administrator: This report was originally posted on 3/17/00. Due to our move to new servers, the date and time attributed to this post is incorrect.)

It was a powder day, and I was on a Mission from God.

Conditions on the trails were alright, 6" of pushed around powder with old manmade ice underneath. Nothing to get your feathers ruffled over.

But the legendary trees were just that: legendary. Some of the more obvious places were tracked pretty early, many bearing the unmistakable serpentine tracks (I can read and recognize tracks, you know) of the sideways snowrider.

But many of the nooks and crannies were untouched. Stephanie's Chutes were visited by exactly 4 people today, and only one of those people visited them twice.

OK, so it was no Castlerock (or Castle Mountain) to myself -- especially with the various sidekicks tagging along -- but it was a much needed shot in the arm of white powder, easing the withdrawal heebie-jeebies of the last couple of weeks.

This season will never die.
