Ah, Mansfield. Blessed mount of the snows.

Mystery flurries dumped another 2-4" of badly needed snow on the flanks of Vermont's tallest peak. Dr. and I used the new snow to our advantage, skiing from the slopes of Toll House to the Village at Smugglers Notch.

It was a Swiss kind of day: different weather, different snow, different atmosphere wherever we went. Some boot-top deep fluff in the Slalom Glade. Some crusty old packed powder on the rarely open upper reaches of Main Street on Spruce. Some incredible packed powder groomers down the Sterling and Chilcoot trails. The ghost town like feel of Toll House, the Town Houses of Smugglers. The "Switzerland Letzerag" sign on the back wall of the Big Spruce Double bullwheel house. We carried the feeling home, made Swiss style rösti for dinner.
