Hey folks. The webpage says they'll be opened through easter weekend, and unless we get an easter blizzard, I suspect that might be it. Sigh.

The double opened late due to a problem "with a bearing," at about 8:15 AM. There were only about 10 people in line. This is the only lift running, and it takes 11 minutes to get to the top. I actually timed it. 11 minutes up, 1 minute down The lift-ee said it would stop operating at 2:00 PM. The parking lot was pleasantly empty.

The list of opened runs is accurate at Stowe's webpage. The coverage was actually quite good -- I didn't hit any barespots nor rocks on the few runs I took down my warm-up North Slope run. The corduroy in the shade was pretty deadly early on, I lost my edge and ended up sliding down on my belly for a ridiculously long time until I could spin around and dig my edge in to stop. It was kind of fun, I could feel the friction of the icy groomer heating up my fleece. I was tempted to grab a tray from the cafe and give it a go.

I ran out of time before I knew it, I didn't get a chance to try out Haystack or make the hike to Nosedive as I had hoped to do. I was enjoying my last runs of the season too much to worry about things like that.

I noticed the lookout woods actually looked pretty nice, on the left hand side as you go up the lift. The actual Lookout trail was mostly rocks and dirt though, probably not a good idea to bail out onto Lookout. Hopefully next season I'll get my board into the woods more so I can give you guys the kind of info I know you're craving.
