All you really need at Stowe is just one lift.

The cold front sent summit temperatures back into the freezer Tuesday night, and even sucked about an inch of fresh snow out of the sky. This made for some firm conditions in the morning, but initial softening was in place by 10:30 and was widespread by 1:00 -- except for a handful of icy moguls near the top of Nosedive.

The woods were utterly fantastic. The forest was transformed into a veritable corn field.

Best "groomers" were the ungroomed flats of lower Gondalier and Perry Merrill.

Stephanie's Chute hardly looks like a chute anymore, the snow is so deep.

I'm sure we saw some bare spots -- I even remember checking the bottoms of my skis for rock damage (found none). But they didn't leave a lasting impression, and I couldn't even tell you where they were, they were so insignificant to the experience.

We cranked out 10 runs between 9:30 and 3:30. All of them were good.

Today I pay. Stuck in a dreary office, hacking and coughing up dreck from my lungs, head woozy and dehydrated from excessive symptom suppressing potions, I sit contemplating spent legs and fading memories. The last 160 days are but a blur. Could I really have skied a whole season already? Surely, there must be more.
