Leave it to say that we arrived better late than sorry.

But that was OK, since this was one of those days where last tracks were better than first tracks, Conditions on the summit were downright frightful: 18 degrees, 50+mph winds, blowing snow. Only reason the quad was running was for the 60th annual Sugar Slalom race on Nosedive.

Conditions were unpredictable. Bypass chutes were not the delight we had hoped: chunky, windblown, and board scraped. Toll Road area was delightful. Quad closed around 2:30, switched to triple. People left mountain like rats leaving Titanic. Tracks filled in. Fluff piled upon fluff. Bumpher Grrl turned her frown upside down and forgot about her dogs and frightful drive home. Jumpin' Jimmy abandon wife and kids. I snapped my indestructible pole. The kind of day that get labeled epic by the historians and scribes.

Will tomorrow be a repeat? Plans are afoot now, but Wesley might be out of luck unless a white knight can provide transport. Knights please apply to address below.

PS: 11" inches at the stake in Starksboro. Officially, 9.5" at stake on Mansfield: does not take wind into account.
