First day up this year, skied most of the blues on the mountain. The ones to the right of Crow's nest were in the best shape, and fun for bombing.

Coverage was almost full, although still rocks and grass here and there. One more good storm will cover the whole thing.

Surprised by numerous icy patches (Blitzen above Mt. Lincoln chair). It got warm during the day, so the snow had softened up on previous day.

Still, a perfect first day of the season.

It is logical that Sugar Bowl would have the best coverage/conditions in the Sierra this season. There has been less snow the farther south you go, and Sugar Bowl definitely gets the most snow of the northern resorts. We've forgotten about this the past few seasons. The areas farther south (Kirkwood and Mammoth in particular) are higher and preserve snow better, but if they don't have enough cover Sugar Bowl is probably the best bet.
