The skiing is still great in Tahoe. However, conditions have definitely taken a turn to spring. Sunny. Warm. Highs around 50.
Sugar Bowl is skiing really well. The groomers are perfect - nice carveable packed powder. The north facing aspects still have soft snow. Anything east or west is now at the mercy of the sun/clouds.
This is not too much of a problem for Sugar since most of its terrain faces north - especially where it counts on Mt. Lincoln. The snow depths are quite large -- the Palisades have excellent coverage.
Mt Disney is a good mountain for these conditions. It is essentially a ridge that runs north-south --- with runs/bowls dropping off either east or west. Just choose according to the time of day and you get a great run.
Some off the off-trail is tough going if there has been no traffic to compact the snow. Can be either icy or too soft depending on the time of day.
From here on out in Tahoe, it will just be a surface conditions game. The skiing will just depend on whether there is some new snow or continued sunshine. The only thing that could kill the skiing might be a cold stretch.
