i opted to start the morning at glen ellen (north) figuring i've skied south before, but never north. big mistake. took the GMX Quad up and attempted to track down a blue square called "Cruiser." snow conditions were perhaps the worst i've ever skied. it was a very nasty three layer mix of breakable crust, scraped icy, and occasional fluff. mixed varialbly with no consistancy and had me looking like a beginner. i headed up the iverness quad to find that the GMVS had commendered iverness with gates, rendering it useless. checked inside to find which trails were groomed. well, there was the trail the GMVS was using for training, and a few trails that formed one top to bottom run from the summit. i inquired about the refund policy and there was none. since the slide brook was not running, i changed outta my ski boots, loaded up the car, and headed over to south.

glad i didn't get that refund as i found lots of quality at south. after a half hour delay (10:30 opening), all the squares under the super bravo were lots of fun! occasional crust, with fluff on the sides. murphy's glade was especially fun and bumps under the super bravo on lower birdland were kicking.

north lynx peak was also kicking it. heard lots of people scrapping around, but if you could see it, you could ski lots of fluff getting stacked up on birch run. sunrise had lots of scraped bumps... form wasn't pretty, but i got down with a smile on my face and that's all that matters! lower morningstar had the best bumps i found, moderate size, decent lines, and soft PP.

castlerock on a lift hold, WTF! ahhhh, i'll ski castlerock one of these days... the diamonds under the heaven's gate triple looked particularly ugly. i avoided them and opted for a sweet run down jester which does "Upper Cannon" better than upper cannon does.

finished the day by finding some soft fluff on pushover chute in the family area of all places! wind was biting and nasty all day, and that castlerock connection and castlerock runout suck! but other than that, a fun day on the slopes. i was just forced to dodge the nastier terrain due to conditions.
