Got up to Sugarbush for the first turns of the season. The choices were on the limited side. Organgrinder or Jester -> Downspout -> Lower Jester on the main maountain or Birch Run -> something or other in the Gate House area. The snow surface was quite good both days, with few if any bare spots, except for the more exposed portions of Birch Run. While the Bush was blowing snow everywhere to deepen base depths all day Friday, their guns lay strangely silent all day Saturday, even though good snowmaking temps were around in the upper elevations. This was disappointing, as the skiing was enjoyable, but somewhat redundant after a while. What's more, an alternative route to the base area from the confluence of Jestr and Organgrinder would have been welcome. The crowds on Downspout were downright dangerous both days with multiple sled trips seen by this correspondant. Otherwise, no complaints for this time of year.
