Too many decisions. It sounded like all the northern Vermont ski areas were all closing on the same day: Jay, Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River. How do you decide where you want to end your lift service season? Roger was advocating Jay Peak. My tradition suggested Stowe. Emotions and knowledge of the unmatched social scene demanded a Mad River visit: nothing beats the Basebox Deck in Spring -- heck, we stopped in for apres ski on Saturday afternoon, and we had spent the day shopping in Mddlebury, not skiing.

Nonetheless, there were elements lobbying for Sugarbush, and it was a strong lobby. The wheels were in motion, the die cast. We gathered at 10:30 in the Gatehouse, and around 11 AM proceeded up Sugar Bravo chair to meet with destiny.

Destiny was kind to us. Copious snow was found on all open terrain. Most of it was of the dense human made variety which presented a somewhat firmer surface and coarser corn than that recently found in the natural snow pockets of Mansfield and General Stark's mountain.

We kept things mellow. I did but one run down rip cord, and it was good. Spent very little time in the woods.

All in all, a pretty satisfying, albeit a bit short.
