Superior via Lake Blanche?

Anyone ever hiked to Superior/Monte Cristo via Big Cottonwood? I'm planning on doing this when we visit for Oktoberfest in a couple weeks and just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Seems like a stout day (5 miles one way, 4900 vertical gain) but most of it is trail.

I know the more common route is via Cardiff Pass but I've heard the Lake Blanche route is more scenic.

Thanks for the reply. We ended up doing it and it was a great route. Really crappy rock on the Cardiac Pass side of Superior, really awesome rock on the other side (traversing over to Monte Cristo).

I'm still gonna go check out your post just to look at the photos.
