Angel Fire reports 58" from this storm.
Taos reports 32" from storm. Ridge will open as soon as avalance work done.
Sipapu reports 21" from storm.

Only problem, King Bill's DOT can't seem to sequencially organize their personal waste material so as to plow, salt, and sand the roads so they can be openned and used to drive to exceptional skiing. Such a huge snow fall seems to have incapaciated the governor, highway crews, and machines.

The benefit to you readers and skiers is that when you get here later this week to carve some turns, the cost of lodging and the crowds will be much smaller! January rates in Taos are affordable!

I responded to the trade posting before reading this. I had checked Taos snowfall last on Dec. 29, when it was 40% open on 85% of normal snowfall. Trail count hasn't gone up yet, but it should increase some after control work is done. Nonetheless the 46 inch base is still well below the 80-inch rule of thumb that some of us use for Taos' signature expert terrain.

Snowfall is now 108% of normal; with ongoing normal snow I'd expect to see that 80-inch base around first of February.

Well King George cannot seem to get New Orleans together many, many months after a national catastrophe happens....but again it's a cultural resource, not a high donor state. Like Taos. Unlike NYC.

Taos is 60% open, typical for an average season at New Year's. I stand by my first of February recommendation, and hope it works out as I will probably ski there myself in late February.
