The Canyons, UT 2-3-08 (More new snow)

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread with Admin's report & video from Alta, but figured what the heck.

Day #3 for my trip to UT. The 'guy's trip' is officially only 2 days on snow, but I always try to get a 3rd or 4th given the energy & resources it takes. Everyone else headed to the airport as I went all of a few hundred yards to park by the Chondola.

I had maybe an inch on the car that morning and snow was starting to fall steadier as I rode up the lifts. Up on the hill they had maybe 4" of new to start but the snow really started coming down as I rode tombstone lift. After a couple of bumpy laps there (the 2+ feet from Friday had been bumped up by large crowds on Sat) I tried to stay ahead of any crowd that might come. In reality crowds were very light all day - Super bowl or weather or ??, not sure why exactly.

Couple more runs on peak 5 and it was starting to get good. Over the buckles of the boots in depth. Then over to Dreamcatcher on the far left side of the whole resort. Just awesome. At least to the top of my boots and spots up to my knees by then and virtually not a person on that lift for at least my first 3 runs over there. Eventually I headed back over to hit 9990 (which was delayed opening due to avi bombing). Hit a couple of runs of shockingly untracked lines off of that chair before heading down to the short cut lift and the bottom of the hill to head out. Bummed a bit, but I had to go.

I-80 through Wyoming was surprisingly good for the most part (given the snowstorm), with only 2 sections of ground blizzards going (about 25 miles for each). That added about an extra hour as I was listening to the Super Bowl on AM radio for the second half of my way home. Great 3 days of powder in Utah. Now if we can get a couple of upslope snow storms for home at Eldora...

It was just me so no pics of people. Just empty spaces of pow to be had...

Should be good at Eldora tomorrow. There's about 4 inches down here in Boulder already and its still coming down lightly. I'm gonna try and head up there, but I'm working till 7 am, so we'll see if I can get enough rest.

I see Eldora is reporting 7" this morning, but alas, I have to work today. Penance for the powder in Utah I guess. Should be back up there on the weekend though...

but I'm working till 7 am

That is a very late shift. Doing what?
