The Last Hurrah, Southeast Lower Michigan

With the winter storm watch taking aim on South Eastern Michigan (Friday & Friday Night), and most ski areas trying to stay open for one more weekend, this might be it for Southeastern Lower Michigan. Saturday or Sunday look good with mostly sunny skies and low 40’s
Northern Lower Michigan might be open for another weekend or two (Boyne/Nubs)

I cannot recall the last time I could ski South Eastern Lower MI, this late in the season. Lift tickets are discounted also

March 20 an unusually late end to the season? Just shows the impact of altitude. March 20 is a typical date for maximum snowpack in western mountains. And in Continental Divide Colorado average max snowpack is mid-April.

So true Tony.
Some years I can recall SE lower Michigan was done by Late February.
Even with all the snow that we got this year (4th all time), there is none on the ground and the ski areas are just grooming it out to keep the base.
With a max Elevation 1,004 feet at the ski hills (bumps) we are lucky the rains have not taking us out sooner.
 
It looks like only Pine Knob for sure will be open. Mt Holly and Alpine both say they are closed for the season on their web sights, and Mt Brighton doesn't say anything about being open or closed.

Correct MI Skier! Pine Knob is open today, they don't say anything about Saturday, Maybe if skier turn out is light today they might not open Saturday.
I think Saturday will draw more people there as we have a winter storm on it's way Friday night. Good news with this storm is they are forecasting it a little more north, so pine knob could see 2"-4" out of this storm.

Saturday will be a good day to snowboard, then drive to Detroit and hit MGM grand :)
 
I just got off the phone with pine knob ski patrol, and they will be open on Saturday, Day shift only. This will be the last day of the year.
2" - 6" tonight, should be good skiing/ride'n on Saturday.
