I'm 55 and will be retired by next ski season.
(Not in order)

Number 1: LA! Just say it's not so Tony. Hey, I was born in Hollywood, it's time to move on! Your children will grow up, marry and move away.

Number 2: SLC. I don't know. He's a big fan of the Cottonwoods but the ice cream in Logan is too rich. Plus Skidog and Sharon might show up on the same day. Too much drama.

Number 3: Spokane, WA. OK, this is a wild card, but I know he likes interior BC, especially around late February. It's not far to Baldface and Whitewater. And you can keep that old red coat.

Number 4: Bend: I think I'm getting warm here. He's unsure we get good snow during mid-winter since he's never visited then. Slam dunk top vote for spring skiing if Powdr wasn't in the picture. Enjoys hiking and family values.

Number 5: Reno: Who da thunk? I see Tony relaxing in the Washoe Valley sun, with cocktail, after gaming and spring skiing 'till 4PM at Alpine Meadows. Close to Mammoth and the Yosemite. Picture a nice crib near the road to Mt. Rose...

How about Whistler? Maybe Mammoth? If he really likes powder why not valdez...

Why limit it to the states, he could move to Chamonix, or for more summer fun but in that general vicinity Annecy. Perhaps, Zermatt, or if you like italian food somewhere in the Dolimiti like Cortina.

Perhaps, Tony would like desert skiing. I hear Dubai has year round skiing. Imagine that... 365 days of skiing!!!

He would be looking for a place where there is a variety of areas. These places would fail in Tony's book.

This place fails on the previous point and the quality of skiing aspect also. HOWEVER I would think that he would be the one on FTO that would be the most probable in trying it.

The last time I looked at a map, Whistler was still part of Canada.

How you're talking. I would personally would choose Bourg St-Maurice as an ideal location to stay on a sabbatical, one month, maybe even retirement....

In th earlier years when I was married, Tahoe was projected first choice, with Bend under consideration if Tahoe was too expensive. I think now it's safe to say that SLC would replace Bend as backup choice if I decide to move. But I still have a kid at home and do not plan to move in the immediate future.

That was before my ski area count moved into triple digits with no letup likely soon. That aspect is not likely to change. What will change is that most Mammoth trips and some Utah trips will be short notice based upon weather predictions.

Patrick is right about Dubai. It's on some interesting cruise itineraries. And I'm sure few of us would pass up the chance if we happened to be there.

Canada is basically the same place as the states, except with cleaner streets and superior health care.

The above statement doesn't apply to quebec. (49% of quebec doesn't consider itself canadian!)
