Reviewing the UAC report this morning, this graphic warms my heart:
Note that the blue line is average, while the red line is last season and the green line is this season. This confirms what I've suspected: that we're having a pretty darned good start to the season this year.
Not all of Utah, however, has been on Santa's "Nice" list going into the Christmas week. While there's no SNOTEL data available at lower elevations in Park City, Jim Steenburgh of the University of Utah Department of Atmospheric Sciences speculates that snowfall at lower elevations on the Wasatch Back is below average thus far even though higher elevations along the PC ridgeline are doing well:
And the Ogden area mountains, which have been skunked repeatedly thus far this season, remain below average. Here's Ben Lomond Peak, just north of Ogden:
