OK, I'll admit that at 4,000 words it's practically a book, and I'll also admit that I'm tooting my own horn here, but I've finally published my latest feature piece on Snowbird, Alta, Park City and Deer Valley -- it's available online here. Enjoy!

Thanks alot Marc :x ! Like I didn't want to go back there bad enough. Now i'm freakin out man!

Wonderful article! The Interconnect is a must for me this time, no question.

Any expierience with Snow Basin?I've got a couple buds that skied it pre Olympics and they said it was a sleeping giant. Huge empty bowls with barely a skier in sight.

I was there immediately pre-Olympics in '02. Frankly, the place left me somewhat wanting. It's relatively low-elevation and faces somewhat east, so the snow quality was inferior to what I had in the Cottonwoods that trip (and even that was anything but primo -- lousy timing!). It also feels creepy to have those huge, elaborate Sun Valley-esque lodges with absolutely nothing else around. Owner Earl Holding (Sun Valley, Sinclair Oil, Grand America Hotel, etc.) spent a small fortune developing facilities a good decade before they planned to start developing the bed base. Weird.

Now, just up the road a piece across Eden Valley at Powder Mountain...there's a real sleeping giant!

I have skied Snow Basin once before the expansion and twice after. I wrote a review for Inside Tracks: http://webpages.charter.net/tcrocker818/sbsnguid.htm .

My opinion is more favorable than Marc's. I agree with his comments about snow conditions, but you can make the case that Snow Basin is #3 in terrain quality in Utah behind Snowbird and Alta. After all, any area that has an FIS downhill has to have some pretty decent fall lines.
