Vail, march 26th

We headed up from Dillon to Vail as they were reporting 14 inches over night. It was a bit more crowded than the previous day but really not that bad. This time instead of heading straight to the back, we hit up the front side off of lift 4 and lift 3. Since, everyone else went back side we had this all to ourselves. Besides, being as the light was really flat we thought it would be better to be around the trees.

After about 2 hours of that we head over to the sun down bowl where shockingly it was still untracked. Off of the high noon lift we hit untracked over and over again. Chicken Yard and Apres Vous were my favorites off that lift. The snow was just untouched and bone dry. The trees were roped off above the lift but that didn't keep us from hitting it. :-$ My legs started to give out around 12:30 so we got lunch and took our time. Afterwards we thought there would be powder off the game creek lift, but it was chopped up pretty bad. That combined with tired legs and poor visibility persuaded us to hit some groomers. We headed down to the Lionshead side of the mountain and went bombing down born free and simba. Every now and then we would jump into the trees and get a nice fluffy gift.

Sorry about the lack of pictures, but I was just way too much into the process of skiing.

My friend got a video from the first run, but after that it was all about the skiing.

I mean, when you see a line that is just so beautifully blanketed with a white smooth canvas you just don't want to ruin it by grabbing at your camera. You go down it, mindlessly, feeling the floating sensation that only dry powder gives you. You pick up speed and pass a few trees here and there while the only sound audible is the wake you left behind in the snow and the wind whistling by your ears.

I wasn't about to ruin moment. :ski:

On the other hand, I was really happy that I had flat light goggles. They made a huge difference once the snow had gotten cut up later in the day.
