Vail Resorts Leave Colorado (Ski Country)

Sounds logical that individual resorts should plan their own promotion strategy and leave the legislation/lobbying to Colorado Ski Country, but I'm sure there are sordid details of which I'm unaware.

Given how successful Colorado has been in out-marketing other regions over the years -- flatlanders equate CO with skiing more than any other place -- I'm curious to see how this will affect things.

CSC USA is the most promotional of the state groups that I know of. Most of the state groups the general public never hears about or directly from, but CSC quotes and short stories, etc... are in the Colorado papers quite frequently and identified as from them (not sure if that stuff carries nationally or not).

One has to at least wonder if this is somehow related to the departure of the current Exec Director to Intrawest (Steamboat).

Or it could be as simple as Vail doing effectiveness tracking and finding CSC USA the least return on the dollar as compared to the state tourism board...

Anyway you slice it, it's not usually a good idea to tick off the biggest guy on the block... Especially when they pay for a sizable amount of your budget.
